Sustainable Innovation in Cold Transfer: Collaboration Between Toyo Ink Europe and KURZ
During Labelexpo 2025 in Barcelona, Toyo Ink Europe joined forces with KURZ to showcase a new standard in cold transfer applications for the label market. At the center of this collaboration was our beautifully crafted cold transfer label, produced by Reynders Cosmétique using our adhesive, Steraglue Coldfoil Adhesive, in combination with KURZ’s latest innovation in cold transfer: LUXOR®/ALUFIN® KPW XU slim, in this specific case, LUXOR® KPW XU slim 105187.
Precision in Every Print
Throughout the exhibition, we highlighted many of our products, and our cold-foil adhesive certainly deserved a prominent place among them. In the competitive world of the packaging industry, it is essential to stand out and visually convince customers of the quality of your product. Few finishes communicate refinement as effectively as detailed cold foil embellishment, that can be achieved with our adhesive. Steraglue ensures that even the smallest elements, from fine lines, micro-details and delicate typography, will remain crisp and perfectly adhered to the substrate.
On top of that, Steraglue is a dual-cure adhesive that works with both UV and LED curing systems and is fully optimized for flexographic printing. This gives printers the flexibility to operate with various systems and workflows without compromising on performance or quality. The result is an exceptionally accurate and reliable transfer, even with the most challenging of designs.
Innovation with Impact at KURZ
To further spotlight our adhesive, we decided to collaborate with KURZ, the world market leader in thin-film technology. They proudly introduced their latest innovation: LUXOR®/ALUFIN® KPW XU slim, a high-gloss transfer product specifically designed for narrow web flexographic printing, a segment that demands high speed, accuracy and superb print reproducibility.
Even with extremely fine details, the transfer product does not crack or flake. With its high-gloss finish, sharp edges and excellent overprint ability, this transfer product lends every package a premium and luxurious appearance. Moreover, KURZ has advanced its sustainability efforts by reducing the PET carrier thickness from 12 µm to 6 µm, resulting in fewer roll changes, less material usage and a lower CO₂ footprint. This is a clear example of how high-end embellishment can seamlessly align with ecological responsibility.
A Partnership with a Vision for the Future
The combination of the applied transfer product LUXOR® KPW XU slim 105187 and Toyo Ink Europe’s specialized cold-foil adhesive Steraglue demonstrates how innovation within the label industry can drive both aesthetic excellence and sustainable progress. This collaboration proves that technological advancement and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
