Toyo Ink Europe Increases Its Renewable Energy Commitments

Toyo Ink Europe has reached key sustainability milestones early 2025, including the installation of solar panels and a switch to 100% renewable electricity from certified European sources. These actions have made the electricity use at our Niel site completely CO₂ neutral. Building on this progress, we continue to invest in technologies and initiatives to meet our 2030 and 2050 carbon reduction targets.

Toyo Ink Europe continues to make its transition to renewable energy and low-carbon operations. In early 2025, we achieved a major milestone by switching entirely to green electricity sourced from certified European renewable providers. On top of this we recently installed 564 solar panels on the roof of our warehouse in Niel, Belgium, providing a total installed capacity of 327 kWp. This system is expected to generate approximately 272 MWh of renewable electricity each year, covering around 8.6% of our annual electricityneeds, a significant step forward towards reducing our environmental impact.

The combined effort of the solar energy generated on-site and the purchased green energy, means that 100% of our electricity usage is now renewable and CO₂ neutral, effectively eliminating all scope 2 emissionsat our Niel facility.

As part of our commitment to sustainability we also support the electrification of transport. In 2025 we installed EV charging stations at our site in Niel to serve both our growing electric vehicle fleet and our employees. These charging stations are publicly accessible, , contributing to the broader transition toward cleaner mobility in our region.

All these developments demonstrate our ongoing dedication to decarbonizing our operations through practical and measurable actions. Looking ahead, we continue to implement strategic initiatives aligned with our 2030 and 2050 climate objectives. Plans are underway to replace a gas burner with an electric heat pump that reuses energy recovered from cooling water. This measure will reduce natural gas consumption and improve overall energy efficiency, helping to cut scope 1 emissions. We are also improving the energy efficiency of our grinding operations through targeted upgrades and equipment and process optimizations. . At the same time, our fleet electrification efforts are expanding, with additional EV charging stations scheduled for installation at the Niel site in the near future.

These initiatives support our broader climate goals: a 35% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030 compared to the FY2030 business-as-usual scenario, and the long-term ambition of reaching net zero CO₂ emissions and full carbon neutrality by 2050.

Sustainability goes beyond our operations. We relentlessly work to bring the latest generation of low-energy, VOC-free ink technologies to market, empowering printers, converters, and brands to reduce their environmental impact. By partnering in co-development, we help our customers advance toward a more sustainable future.

Together, through deliberate and forward-looking investments, Toyo Ink Europe continues to build a more sustainable future.
